Nominator's project description

Dr. Kovalev is an internationally recognized astronomer and an expert in the study of active galactic nuclei using high-resolution radio astronomical techniques. He has most notably made crucial contributions to the Russian-led RadioAstron space telescope project. In Germany, he intends to exploit the synergies between radio interferometry from space and from the ground and to enhance the collaboration in the field of radio and gamma-ray studies of active galactic nuclei.
